Colon simulators

Mold for the machine

At MiWEndo, we work every day with very high technology, both in terms of hardware and software. However, to test our device, sometimes we also must deal with craftsmanship!

To do this, our artists, that is, our engineers, have created several versions of a colon simulator. In the photo we show you the most advanced version, which we call “Phantom 3”. With this simulation tool we can make quick validation tests of our prototypes without bothering our hospital colleagues to obtain tissue samples form patients (although we also do this very often).

In the case of the “Phantom 3”, we have created, based on different materials, a reconstruction of a section of the colon, with its folds, polyps and imperfections. This allows us to physically simulate the behaviour of the different prototypes we are working with before testing them with real human tissue. In addition, with the “Phantom 3” we can reproduce different types of “removable” polyps, which is great to be able to experiment with the different situations that occur in the colon of a patient.

Anyway, we continue to fight colorectal cancer!
